SERVER OFFLINE Hello, in this topic I will show you how to connect to our Minecraft Feed The Beast (FTB) server. Now, you may be wondering "hey Exotic, wtf is FTB?", but no worries, I've got you covered. FTB is a modpack for Minecraft, it includes over 100 different mods, mostly focusing on the technological aspect of Minecraft. There are lots of different FTB packs you can choose in the launcher and the one we are using is called "Unleashed". It includes lots of awesome stuff such as portal guns and turrets, jetpacks, power armor, many new ores, electricity, engines, programmable computers, item transport pipes and much more! All of this combined completely overhauls the Minecraft experience! Hopefully I've convinced you to at least give it a shot, if so, follow the steps below. Before we get started I would just like to point out that the server is running in offline mode so a purchased Minecraft account is not necessary. Secondly note that FTB uses a lot more RAM than stock Minecraft so if you have less than 2 GB of RAM your experience may not be enjoyable. Now let's get down to business. Firstly you will need to ensure you have the latest Java installed on your computer which you can download from here. Step 1: Download the FTB client from here and place it anywhere, for example on your Desktop. Step 2: Open the file you just downloaded and the client should pop up. DO NOT UPDATE THE CLIENT. NEVER UPDATE THIS CLIENT. Something like this should now be open: Step 3: Click on the "Select Profile" button at the bottom and select Create Profile. A small window should pop up, note that this may look a bit glitchy, just ignore it and try and fill it in as best as possible. Use your desired in-game name for the Username and Profile Name, and use any password (for example "123") and click Add. Step 4: Now that you've got your profile set up, we need to select the proper Modpack. Go to the Modpack tab at the top if you aren't in it already and scroll down until you find FTB Unleashed (v1.1.7) and click on it. Step 5: At this point we are ready to start the game! Click Launch in the bottom right corner of the Launcher. Now a small error window will pop up: don't worry about it and just press OK. Your modpack should now start downloading, it is around 150 MB to download. After it's downloaded and if you've done everything right you should be greeted by a fancy splash screen saying "FTB" and a few seconds later the MOJANG logo should show up. The game is now loading all the mods, this may take a few minutes. While it is loading the window will appear to not be responding, but just give it some time. Step 6: When it's all loaded, you should be in the default Minecraft main menu. If so congratulations, you've successfully set up FTB! Now all that's left to do is to connect to the server. Click Multiplayer and select Add Server. Under Server Name write anything you want, in this example I wrote "FTB". Under Server Address you need to write "impulse99.com". Click the Done button to save the server. Step 7: The last thing to do is connect to the server, click on the server in the list and press Connect at the bottom. Step 8: Once you are connected press T to open the chat and type /register <password>, where <password> is your desired password. The next time you join, you will have to use /login <password>, where <password> is the password you registered with to log yourself in or you will not be able to move. That's it! I have no doubt you will Feed The Beast fun and enjoy playing it. If you need any help about playing with the mods feel free to ask other players or hop on to our IRC channel at irc.impulse99.com then join #mc-echo. A very valuable tool that I recommend using is the FTB Wiki, note however that some stuff on there may not be on the server due to modpack differences. Thanks for reading this tutorial, I hope it helps people discover the amazing fun of FTB. If you still have any issues with setting FTB up, feel free to reply below.
